Mountain Research and Development (MRD) is the leading development-oriented international research journal specifically devoted to the world’s mountains. It fosters sustainable development in mountains by publishing peer-reviewed interdisciplinary, disciplinary, and transdisciplinary research on mountains, capitalising on development experiences, promoting policy dialogue, and strengthening networks within the mountain community.
MRD is fully online and provides open access to all contents as of 2000 through
BioOne; older issues can be accessed through
JSTOR.
MRD’s innovative editorial policy aims to bring together research and development. By presenting different types of knowledge and addressing both the scientific community and a broader community of practitioners, policymakers, and decision-makers, MRD encourages the co-production of knowledge for sustainable mountain development. All articles published in MRD are peer-reviewed under consideration of the different value systems and rules of both the science and development communities.
